Code of Conduct

Why this exists

Restore the Legacy works with communities, partners, researchers, donors, and organisations to restore and protect tropical rainforest ecosystems.

 

Maintaining trust, integrity, and respect in all interactions is essential to the organisation’s mission.

 

This Code of Conduct establishes basic standards of professional and ethical behaviour for individuals involved in Restore the Legacy’s work.

 

 

Scope

This Code of Conduct applies to individuals connected to Restore the Legacy, including:

  • Board members

  • Advisors and consultants

  • Employees and collaborators

  • Volunteers

  • Partners working on projects or initiatives
     

All individuals are expected to act in a way that reflects the organisation’s mission and values.

 

 

Respect and professionalism

Individuals associated with Restore the Legacy are expected to:

  • Treat others with dignity and respect

  • Communicate honestly and responsibly

  • Respect cultural contexts when working with communities

  • Contribute to a collaborative and professional environment
     

Behaviour that creates harm, intimidation, discrimination, or harassment is not consistent with the organisation’s values.
 


Integrity

Individuals must act with integrity in all activities connected to Restore the Legacy.

 

This includes:

  • Avoiding conflicts of interest

  • Acting honestly in financial and organisational matters

  • Respecting organisational policies and governance standards

  • Protecting the reputation of the organisation

Relevant policies such as the Conflict of Interest Policy and Ethical Conduct Framework apply where appropriate.
 

 

Responsible use of organisational resources

Organisational resources, including financial resources, data, equipment, and intellectual property, should be used responsibly and only for legitimate organisational purposes.
 

 

Environmental responsibility

Restore the Legacy’s mission is rooted in protecting ecosystems and biodiversity.

 

Individuals representing the organisation are expected to respect environmental principles and avoid actions that could undermine the organisation’s environmental objectives.

 

 

Reporting concerns 

Concerns about behaviour that may violate this Code of Conduct may be raised in accordance with Restore the Legacy’s Whistleblower Policy.

 

 

Commitment 

Restore the Legacy believes that responsible environmental work depends on trust, integrity, and respectful collaboration.

 

By following this Code of Conduct, individuals help ensure that the organisation continues to operate with credibility and professionalism.
