Bali was ooit een ongerept paradijs: een eiland van smaragdgroene rijstvelden, heilige bossen en een diepe spirituele verbondenheid met de natuur. Het leven draaide hier om agrarische bosbouw, duurzame landbouw en de tradities die de Balinese identiteit vormden. Het land voorzag in alles wat we nodig hadden, de cultuur bloeide en harmonie met de natuur was vanzelfsprekend. Maar naarmate het toerisme groeide, begon die balans te verschuiven. Heilige bossen maakten plaats voor resorts, vruchtbare gronden werden bedekt met beton en tradities worstelden om te overleven in een snel veranderende wereld. Toch is de erfenis van Bali niet verloren gegaan, nog niet. Wij geloven dat het tijd is om toerisme te verschuiven van entertainment naar educatie, bewustwording en regeneratie. Als we het Bali waar we zo van houden willen behouden, moeten we het samen beschermen.
